CCPS Per Pupil Funding

The state uses a formula to determine local wealth and that determines the local share each jurisdiction pays as its minimum contribution to its school system.  The state's education funding formula has 3 components: (1) foundation (base) amount per student based on enrollment, (2) weighted amounts to support specific student groups: Multilingual Learners, students with disabilities, and students who are economically disadvantaged, and (3) program amounts tied to unique district-level factors like transportation.  Once the state’s formula is applied, local jurisdictions may decide to contribute resources above and beyond the requirement.

This chart shows the amount of per pupil revenues that each jurisdiction has to work with, with blue being the state funding and orange being the local jurisdiction contribution. There is a range of what the local jurisdictions contribute to their schools.

CCPS having the lowest per pupil funding in the entire state demonstrates how lean our school system is. We believe the BOE is justified and our schools are deserving of the request for additional funding to sustain our current programs.
